The central figure in Tom Bender’s photo seems to be attempting to stop time. It can’t be done.
May I remind you of the poet Mary Oliver’s challenge to all of us at any age ”Tell me what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life.”
I must confess I have a favorite area of coaching. It’s coaching clients preparing to retire or coaching those who have already retired and just hate it. I have a firm belief that life isn’t over until “the fat lady sings.” I believe you need to put all you’ve got into making the best out of every single minute of this part of your journey. After all, today is the youngest you will ever be!
There is some wisdom I apply to my own life as I move closer to 75 this year.
My Wisdom Formula begins with…
(Cut and paste this somewhere that you will look at everyday)
- Believe you can do anything you WANT to do no matter what your age. Please note the emphasis is on WANT not anything.
- Fall in love with your own future. That means being lovingly watchful of all aspects of your life now so that you have lasting power over your health, your personal attitude, your loved ones, your finances, your work, your play and your adventures.
- Plan to Retire To Something and not “from” something.
